A project for artistic exchanges and sharing of experiences between Senegal and France, centered around the creation of "Óró"«

In general, this first phase of the project, supported by the IF Export 2023 call for projects, allowed, on both sides, an opening to the world: that of the French participants going to Senegal for the first time, and that of the Senegalese participants meeting their peers, with whom they had to experience remotely the creation of the show Óró.

The artistic residency and off-site activities marked the very first physical meeting of dancers from France and Senegal, and their artistic exchange on the themes explored in the piece: shadow, the power of action, and projection into the future. The residency included numerous opportunities for the two groups of dancers to exchange ideas, reflect, and create together on these concepts, which had previously been explored separately.

- An off-site presentation hosted at the Blaise Diagne High School in Dakar

- Hip Hop dance workshops open to the general public and to professional dancers or those in training to become professionals

- Participation of French dancers in the "Stay Cibiir" Battle, the flagship event of the Maggando Association, showcasing Hip Hop dances through a competition involving public participation

Phase #1 of the project enabled the arrival in Senegal of 5 French dancers and their meeting with 11 Senegalese dancers around:

The artistic residency and off-site activities marked the very first physical meeting of dancers from France and Senegal.

Their artistic exchange focused on the themes explored in the piece: shadow, the power of action, and projection into the future. The residency included numerous meetings so that the two groups of dancers could exchange ideas, reflect, and create together on these concepts, which had previously been explored separately.

Thus, the residency allowed the creation of Óró to be enriched by the encounter between the dancers involved in the project, fostering shared experiences and strengthening group unity. The experience of this concrete encounter provided inspiration, techniques, and sources of motivation shared by participants from both countries, enriching their dance practices as well as the choreographic scores of the piece.

Phase #1 of the project also made it possible to invest in spaces outside the walls through the restitutions, and recalls the impact that the possibility of carrying out artistic interventions in hybrid and original formats generates on different audiences.
