Transdisciplinary workshop for dancers

Hip Horizons is a project led by Compagnie KHOR, which offers itinerant artistic encounters in Seine-Saint-Denis.

The Hip-hop movement emerged in predominantly Black American neighborhoods in the late 1980s, promoting values of respect, love, and dignity within a context marked by poverty and violence. Today, its values continue to represent strong cultural pillars for a diverse range of artists who find in them a significant source of inspiration.

Seine-Saint-Denis was the birthplace of Hip-Hop culture in France. Many artists emerged from this department, which has become an emblematic hub of French Hip-Hop culture. This culture contributes to the recognition of working-class neighborhoods as legitimate centers of artistic production, where talent can be discovered and flourish.

These meetings encourage collective work on the concepts of mediation, resilience, and vulnerability.

With 4 transdisciplinary speakers and emerging young artists from Seine-Saint-Denis.

The workshops are a space for dialogue and reflection, seen as a multi-disciplinary laboratory at the crossroads of Hip Hop Dance, and other artistic practices such as theatre and music.

The workshops aim to:

Promote artistic mediation actions towards vulnerable audiences among a new generation of emerging artists likely to reproduce them in their territories and communities.
Strengthening the capacities of artistic actors by raising their awareness of the holistic health approach (self-expression, expression of frustrations, physical and mental well-being, peer co-education).
Bringing together disciplinary perspectives—dance, theatre, music, and performing arts—creates a laboratory space to share our experiences, emerge with new desires, ideas, and tools for transmission, examine our role as practitioners, and deepen our reflection on the civic dimension of our actions.
