«Oro», «orare», in Latin, the act of speaking; is also found in the Yoruba language, in Nigeria, in the form «Ọ̀RỌ̀», which means to speak, to exist, to be.

Speech (verbal or physical) is a manifestation of the whole person and an act of existence. It leaves profound traces. Its power is also found in dancing bodies. It allows us to tell our own stories and to tell others'. To engage in conversation. This journey from the individual to the collective deeply questions Khoudia. Dance becomes a powerful narrative—a liberating force beyond words—for telling stories that are both personal and universal.

Artistic approach

Through Óró, Khoudia met young adults from Senegal, France, and Canada. The creative process was enriched by participatory residencies (the «labs») during which she worked in each country with a group of emerging local dancers on themes of shadow, empowerment, and their future aspirations. Aged between 18 and 30, an age when self-affirmation and choice take on particular significance, the dancers were at the heart of the creative process.
