Transmission

The question of transmission and the link between generations of dancers is of fundamental importance to me.

Connecting with and meeting different generations of dancers is a wellspring of inspiration in my creative process. The intergenerational dialogue that develops allows me to honor the past while celebrating the vitality of our community. They challenge and inspire me, and each time I rediscover this work with a fresh and profoundly stimulating perspective.

With the KHOR Company

Hip-hop dance is rooted in a culture and philosophy of empowerment:

«Giving power back to…»: beyond the dance movement, there are values that bear witness to a culture with rituals. A space where one comes to release the tensions of daily life in order to transform them.

There is constant transgression and challenge between generations of dancers, which gives this permanent renewal of steps, these variations of the "steps"; with also a personal objective: to find one's own identity, and to transgress the codes, via freestyle, improvisation.

Our workshops offer a space to understand Hip Hop as a culture, a way of life, a lifestyle: this includes revisiting the history and spirit of the dances, the intentions behind their creation. These shared reflections will serve to foster civic awareness and recognize our collective potential as agents of change, through the practice of our art.
